La Cambusa Refrigerator by Meneghini

This fancy refrigerator is like no other that I had seen. Although it kind of reminds me of the Murphy Kitchen because of it's all in one concept, La Cambusa Refrigerator by the Italian company Meneghini is of a different breed all of it's own.

This beautiful refrigerator unit can be yours for a whopping amount of 40,0000 grand. La Cambusa is handmade in Italy and it's made of a solid wood structure. It's no wonder that it cost quite a penny.

The classic art deco style design of La Cambusa looks more like a furniture piece than a kitchen appliance. This refrigerator unit has more than beauty. This smart multi-tasker functions more like a mini-kitchen. And the best part of it, La Cambusa is customized to fit the individual client's need.

Here are some of the customized specifications:
  • Fitted Pantry or Double Pantry
  • Microwave Oven
  • Steam Oven and Multi-Function Oven
  • Flat- Screen Television
  • Coffee-Maker
  • Ice-Maker
  • Storage Space
  • Refrigerator
  • Freezer

And after you are done, you just close the wooden doors, and everything is safely tucked away inside this elegant piece of art.

The Vintage Tea Party Book: A Complete Guide to Hosting your Perfect Tea Party

My girlfriends and I been talking about getting together for an afternoon tea party at one of our favorites parks here in town. Of course that was back in the Winter that we've talked about it. Then Spring came and it has been way too hot and humid - not such a good idea when your cubes of sugar and guest start melting on top of the table.  So I decided that Fall was a better choice to have an outdoor vintage tea party.

While browsing the internet I came across The Vintage Tea Party Book: A Complete Guide to Hosting your Perfect Party by the author Angel Adoree. When I read the content and description of the book I immediately loved it! Then when I read the many great reviews about it that sealed it for me!

Book Description:

The Vintage Tea Party Book embraces the style and class of the trendy London Vintage scene and illustrates how to beautifully recreate the tasty treats and classic styles at home.

Angel Adoree cordially invites you to accompany her on a journey to create your perfect vintage tea party. Expect glamour, roses, rabbits, headscarves, foxes, teapots, crows, parlour games, cake stands, hair and make-up tips and, not forgetting, humongous amounts of delightful tea party food that is fit for the Queen of England, and easy enough for you to make.

This is the opening introduction to the contents of the book:

"Welcome to the Vintage Tea Party Book. You are about to embark on an imaginative journey to create your perfect tea party. The pages ahead of you capture my passion and fantasy for all things vintage and I feel incredibly blessed that I've been given the opportunity to share this with you."

The following are some of it's beautiful pages:

I am totally excited about this book! I can't wait to get my own copy! By the way Lola London is giving a giveaway a copy of, you guess it, The Vintage Tea Party Book! And she is shipping it worldwide! Why don't you hop to her blog and give her a friendly visit.

Forks Over Knives / Healthy Diet That Prevent & Reverse Diseases

Forks Over Knives is a 2011 film documentary that examines the "profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods.

I have always believed in a good balance diet. Many years ago in school we learned that milk was good for our bones and that we need meat and eggs for protein which helps to build strong muscles. So last night when I saw this film  my jaw dropped.

I just couldn't believe my ears! Everything that I was taught about food was not only wrong but the food that I thought that was essential for our health and well being was contributing to most of the world's diseases.

According to the latest statistics two out of three Americans are overweight. And that heart disease, cancer, and stroke are the three leading causes of death in the United States. The major cause: Animal based diet.

Here is the trailer of the documentary Forks Over Knives:

Watching this video was certainly a wake up call for me.

As a wife and cook I have the responsibility to take care of my family's health. And now more than ever I am determined to add more vegetables to my husband's plate of food. Even if he doesn't like it.

Baking With Julia Child: Chocolate Napoleon & Ice Cream Sandwich Recipe/ With Chef Gale Gand

I have been craving for something sweet lately. So while I was searching for some online recipes I came across the show Baking With Julia Child. In this series Julia invites different chefs to come to her show and share their recipes.

In this retro episode the now famous chef Gale Gand creates a towering chocolate napoleon and a fettuccine ice cream sandwich. Gand demonstrates how to make chocolate filo dough, poached pears, cranberry compote, whipped cream with ginger, and the mocha granache for the napoleon. She creates a filo dough "fettuccine" for the ice cream sandwich with raspberries and a fresh fruit kabob.

My mouth is all watery now!

 Bon Appétit!

Lulu Guinness / Glamour Girl Rug

Lulu Guinness Rug in Christina Aguilera Bathroom
This french glamorous bathroom was beautifully designed for singer Christina Aguilera. But what captured my attention was the retro inspired 1950's Glamour Girl rug by the designer Lulu Guinness. I love it!

The Glamour Girl rug is made of 150 knot Tibetan wool and silk in baby blue, pink and metallic gold. And besides being made with a thick and durable material, the rug it is also soft and plush. I know that my tootsies will love that!

Lulu Guinness is known by her quirky chic designs. And if you get an invitation to her home you will see her sense of style and sophistication through out her whole house.

While you wait for an invitation here is a sneak peek of her home.

The pretty cameo wall painting is based on Lulu Guinness' silhouette.

These Isabel silhouettes splashback tiles by Ruben Toledo adds an air of sophistication to Lulu's kitchen.

The Fornasetti cabinet is perfect for this vintage-style dining room.

Lulu's bathroom floor is made from reclaimed Victorian path tiles. And on top of her vanity are several Glamour Girl's perfume bottles. You know what that Glamour Girl sure has a striking resemblance to Marilyn Monroe.

Lulu Guinness Glamour Girl rug is available for purchase at: The Rug Company.

The Martha Stewart Wrap

The Martha Wrap is foil plus parchment in one! This special wrap was created and developed by Martha Stewart herself! Why didn't I think of that. Anyhow the wrap is now being sold at one of my favorite shops The Vermont Country Store!

One of the great things about the Martha Wrap is that your food won't be touching the aluminum foil. You see the parchment side is nonstick and provides a barrier between food and foil. When I heard of that I was sold!

For years I had stop using aluminum foil in the kitchen because of health concerns. Many health experts have warned for years about the health risks in using this kind of product in cooking. And some have even attributed certain diseases like Alzheimer's to the use of aluminum foil.

Purchasing healthy food is expensive nowadays. So why would we want to add toxins to our already expensive healthy food? That would defeat the purpose of buying the healthy food in the first place.

Here are the other perks of the Martha Wrap:

*Foil side retains heat and prevents freezer burn
*Oven and freezer safe(Oven safe up to 420° F)
*Ideal for roasting, baking, and steaming
*Also great for wrapping and reheating leftovers

I am so excited about this product! I hope that my favorites restaurants start using this product as well.

The 1940's House/ Film & Experience

Last year a friend of mine and her husband invited my hubby and I to watch The 1940's House. I have been wanting to see this program for the longest so you could imagine how excited I was to finally watch the show.

So after we had diner we all went to the living room and sat down in front of the T.V. My friend popped in the video and a few minutes later we started to watch what we thought was going to be a sweet light fun show. We had no idea we were going to experience a dramatic roller coaster ride. I truthfully wasn't ready for the impact this show was going to have on me. And weeks later I was still recovering from it.

A viewer after watching the show said, "bloody impressive... watch it folks it will stay with you for a long time."

I couldn't said it better myself!

So are you ready?

Here it goes.
